Crypto Exchange Lykke, based in the UK, revealed the attack occurred on June 4. Despite this, the exchange assured users their funds were safe and promised to recover the stolen assets.

Statement Released on Social Media

Via social media platform X, Lykke announced it had shut down affected systems. They are thoroughly examining and addressing security breaches. This confirmation followed accusations by Web3 threats researcher Somaxbt that Lykke concealed the theft.

Exchange Highlights Strong Financial Position

Lykke emphasized its strong financial position while acknowledging the attack’s severity. They hinted at leads on the perpetrator, stating a criminal investigation is ongoing. An external cybersecurity firm is working to block and recover the stolen assets. The exchange remains closed as a preventive measure.

Details of the Stolen Assets

According to DL News, bitcoin (BTC) comprised half of the stolen assets. Ethereum (ETH), bitcoin cash (BCH), and litecoin (LTC) made up the rest. The hacker converted the stolen ETH to DAI stablecoin and distributed the BTC across multiple wallets.
